The tab makes you Ranger "qualified", the scroll means you function as a Ranger (obviously depending on your MOS), and are assigned/selected for service in the Ranger Battalion. ![]() I would also add that there is a difference between Ranger School, which earns you the Ranger tab, and RASP, Ranger Assessment and Selection, from which you MAY be selected for a spot in Battalion. He explained that 42As is a great job and does have its perks. He told what it was and told me it’s not what I want want. Out of his few year on recruiting duty, he never saw 42A with opt40. When he saw 42A with opt40 we literally flipped and called others to see what he was seeing. My recruiter knows I want Infantry but didn’t want to send me as a basic infantryman. Only a gasoline tech, artillery, and human resource. There were no Infantry contracts (11x) with opt40 available,
